Mack Sick for the First Time
I tried to stop it but I guess it was just a matter of time before Mack got sick. Adam came home last week from work with a cold and sure enough the following week I felt a little under the weather. I took my vitamins and thought that we had made it through the sickness without passing it to Mack when all the sudden he started not sleeping well. The first night I woke up in a panic as he was gasping for air. Adam stayed up with him and rocked in back and forth as he slept. The next day I went and got a hot air humidifier and baby Vicks to help him breath. We were set up for success we were going to have a goodnight and sleep. Nope once again at 2:00 a.m. Mack started to cough and gasp for air. That night both Adam and I got up with him. The following day was Sunday and we decided to stay home and rest since none of us had slept more that 3 hours a time. During the day Mack is all happy and chipper which makes me think he's better. Then once again last night around 2:00 a.m. he started to cough and gasp for air. I stayed up with him and held him in my arms and he struggled to breath and sleep. I felt so bad and so helpless not knowing what to do. We watched "Marley and Me" and I cried my eyes out as Mack ate a little and slept a little. In the morning we had a steam shower and called Dr. Jackson. We were seen at 10:20 a.m. and by 10:40 a.m. I was informed that Mack was sick with Croup and that he needed a shot of medicine to help get over the sickness. Poor little guy was gooing and smiling at the nurse when all the sudden he let out a blood curling cry and the shot when into the side of his upper thigh. I could not look, listening was hard enough as he sobbed and sobbed. I hurried and got him dressed and cuddling him in my arms till the tears stopped. Lets hope that tonight he will be able to breath and sleep just fine. Oh I hate seeing my baby sick.

Cam, I hope Mack is feeling better now that he has had that shot. Poor little guy! One thing my dr. told me when Caden has RSV last year, is that you should use a cold humidifier. I don't know how true that is but I just thought I would mention it! Hope you are all feeling better!
I'm just now reading this. I'm sorry that he had croup! To help with shots, you can nurse him during the shot, or at least immediately afterward. The suckling will help him calm down and breastmilk sends messages to his brain to calm him and lessen the pain.
