Yesterday Mack fell out of the Bumbo. Luckily he is Ok. He was on the island and I was fixing lunch. I spilled the lasagna all over the floor because the container was too hot. I dropped to the floor to hurry and clean up the mess when I heard a rumble. I screamed as I jumped to my feet to see my baby head first in the sink. Adam was on his way down the hall to the garage when he rushed back into the kitchen. Mack cried and I cried. We both sobbed and sobbed as Adam calmed us both down. I could not control the tears I felt so bad that I let it happen and I was so worried. The good news is that he is OK. I gave him so Tylenol for the soreness and rocked him in my arms the rest of the afternoon.
So the reason I am so quick to blog this is cause I thought it was impossible for a baby to get out of the Bumbo. The box says its for 3-14 months old. I had a false sense of security that if Mack was in the Bumbo he could not get out. I learned the hard way that it is not true. When Mack tumbled out of the Bumbo yesterday it did not even tip the Bumbo over. So for all you moms, future moms, aunts, sisters, cousins, grandmas, friends etc... Be careful when you place a child in a Bumbo. Make sure and watch them in it or place the Bumbo on the floor.

That is so sad! I am glad he is okay though! I bought a Bumbo for Caden when he was little and right after I bought it I saw it had a recall because parents were setting it on high surfaces and the babies were falling out and getting injured. I had only had Caden on the floor in the Bumbo but I decided to just take it back and stick to a swing or something else.
I totally agree, Claire was in a bumbo a couple of months ago and she was reaching for something on the counter and almost fell out! We put it up in the attic that day. I'm so glad Mack is ok.

I remember I was going to buy a bumbo and saw the warning and recalls at Walmart so I never purchased one. That is crazy, things happen so fast with kids. We have had our share of falls at our house. I am glad that he is okay.

ya, there is a warning on there that says do not place on a high surface. But everyone still does it. It is very convenient, but once they start to move more it's hard to keep them in it. Zander has fallen out a couple times, but luckily he was was just on the floor, so he falls like an inch. he doesn't like it as much as he used to now that he can sit up on his own, but If he uses it and he's on the counter I pretty much have to keep one hand on him. He is getting pretty good at getting out though.
CAM!! That is so scary, I am so glad he is OK. I have heard the saddest stories about bumbo's. Thanks for a great reminder to only use mine on the floor.
