One afternoon Adam and I decided to convert Mack's bed from a crib into a toddler bed. Adam was really excited about it. He is my worrier and worries that Mack won't be able to get out of the crib if he needed to. Well the first couple of days was a success. Mack slept pretty good in the bed, but gradually he started waking up earlier and earlier every morning. He was cute at first to hear the pitter padder of little feet coming down the stairs, down the hall into our room. He would get to our door and shout, "I am awake". Just as he was getting up earlier and earlier in the morning his afternoon napes were becoming shorter and shorter. I was worried with a new baby coming and this new bad habit starting. Then this weekend I went on an overnight trip with some girlfriends. Adam texted me at 10:45 p.m. that he was exhausted and Mack was finally in bed sleeping. Then the next morning he texted me that Mack got up at 1:00, 3:00 and 6:30 a.m. with Mack. By the time I got home that afternoon Mack and Adam were both worn out. That night we were getting ready to put Mack to bed and Adam decided he could not take the risk of Mack getting up early again. He went to the basement and brought up the crib rail and converted the bed back. Mack was happy dancing around the room as he did it saying, "new bed, new bed". The new bed turned out to be his old bed and he slept great that night. The next morning he did say that he was in his "old bed" not "new bed". Overall he did not seem to mind. We will try it again a couple months. With the new baby coming we all need to get as much sleep as we can.
